Grifols’ 2025-2027 Sustainability Master Plan marks a renewed and ambitious chapter in our commitment to responsible business and long-term value creation. Building on the foundation of our first sustainability strategy launched in 2021, this new plan aligns with the evolving global landscape – addressing material impacts, risks and opportunities.
Developed through a rigorous double-materiality assessment and stakeholder engagement process, the strategy embeds sustainability into our core business model and operations. Structured around six strategic pillars – Patients & Health, Donors & Communities, Planet, People, Ethics and Innovation – it reflects our dedication to creating meaningful impact across our value chain while managing risks and meeting regulatory expectations and stakeholder priorities.
This strategy is supported by a strong governance framework that ensures sustainability is integrated into decision-making at every level of the organization. Oversight is provided by a dedicated Sustainability Committee reporting to the Board of Directors. Formal responsibilities are assigned across departments, and sustainability performance is regularly monitored, disclosed and independently audited in line with the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and other regulatory and voluntary reporting frameworks. This governance model reinforces transparency, accountability and alignment with Grifols’ broader strategic and reputational goals.
This plan is in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set out in the United Nations (UN) 2030 Agenda.
In 2021, we reinforced our commitment to sustainability by signing the United Nations Global Compact, a global initiative that calls on companies to align their operations with the universal principles of human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption. As a participant, Grifols reports its progress toward the UN’s SDGs in its 2025 Annual Integrated Report.

Our approach to sustainable value creation is internationally recognized. In 2026, Grifols reaffirmed its leadership as a biotechnology company in the Dow Jones Best-in-Class Indices (formerly DJSI), after being included in the Dow Jones Best-in-Class World Index and Dow Jones Best-in-Class Europe Index (formerly DJSI World and DJSI Europe) for the fifth and sixth consecutive years, respectively.
In 2025, Grifols obtained the EcoVadis Platinum Medal and a BB rating in the MSCI ESG ratings assessment. In 2024, the company also received the Prime badge in the ISS ESG corporate rating and is one of the top-rated companies by Sustainalytics with a low ESG risk rating.
Furthermore, Grifols participates annually in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) and, since 2018, Grifols has been a constituent of the FTSE4Good Index which identifies companies that demonstrate strong Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices measured according to globally recognized standards.
