Grifols strengthens evidence supporting the AMBAR^® program in Alzheimer’s disease with real-world evidence data

Barcelona, Spain, September 19, 2026 – Grifols (MCE:GRF, MCE:GRF.P, NASDAQ:GRFS), a global healthcare company and leading producer of plasma-derived medicines, is strengthening the evidence supporting the AMBAR^® (Alzheimer Management by Albumin Replacement) program with new real-world evidence (RWE) data that broaden understanding of the applicability of therapeutic plasma exchange with albumin replacement in patients with Alzheimer’s disease.

The AMBAR study has shown a 61% reduction in disease progression in patients with mild to moderate Alzheimer’s disease compared with untreated patients.[1]

Grifols and Ace Alzheimer Center Barcelona jointly develop the program through the AMBAR Center in Barcelona. In addition, the AMBAR protocol has begun to be implemented at HM Sanchinarro University Hospital in Madrid and Juaneda Clinic in Palma de Mallorca. The company is also in discussions with other hospitals across Spain to explore the progressive adoption of the protocol at additional centers.

At the Annual Meeting of the Spanish Society of Neurology (SEN), taking place in Seville from November 17 to 21, new real-world evidence data from the AMBAR program will be presented. The findings expand the available evidence regarding the applicability of therapeutic plasma exchange with albumin replacement under routine clinical practice conditions.

Memory Week: Promoting early detection

Coinciding with World Alzheimer’s Day on September 21, Grifols is collaborating with the AMBAR Clinics in Madrid and Mallorca to organize a ‘Memory Week’, an initiative aimed at raising public awareness about the importance of recognizing potential cognitive changes at their earliest stages.

The initiative will take place at HM Sanchinarro University Hospital and HM Madrid University Hospital in Madrid, as well as at Juaneda Clinic in Palma de Mallorca.

Through scientific research and awareness initiatives such as the ‘Memory Week’, Grifols reaffirms its commitment to advancing knowledge of Alzheimer’s disease and improving care for people living with the condition.
