UEFA Women’s Champions League final Barcelona vs Wolfsburg
After an exciting season of the UEFA Women's Champions League, congratulations to FC Barcelona for winning the final match on Saturday, June 3, in Eindhoven (Netherlands), their second title of this competition. In a thrilling match, FC Barcelona beat VfL Wolfsburg 3-2.
We also congratulate the runners-up for their great season and especially VfL Wolfsburg’s Ewa Pajor for her recognition as the top scorer of the tournament. Teresa Rioné, Chief Communications Officer, presented the trophy to Pajor on behalf of Grifols, a sponsor of the competition.
It was a historic final, not only because of the attendance (a record-breaking 34,000+ sellout for women’s football in the Netherlands), but also because it was the highlight of a competition that has given greater prominence to women's sports than ever before.
Our commitment to diversity and gender equality can be seen in various internal and external initiatives providing visibility to women and empowering them. We believe sports is a very effective way to promote equality for all that it represents in terms of the spirit of self-improvement, teamwork, the pursuit of goals and its impact on society.
It has been another historic season for women in sports and for women's football in particular. Congratulations once again to the champions and the top scorer!
Sport is one of the most powerful platforms for promoting gender equality. It develops skills and qualities that inspire girls and empower women in the workplace, and in all areas of community life.
