On October 13th, the ceremony for the first edition of the GATRA Program (Grifols Scientific Awards about research on antithrombin) was held at the Museu Grifols in Barcelona.
The ceremony started with an introduction by Dr. Juan Ignacio Jorquera (VP Global R&D, Bioscience Industrial Group, Grifols), explaining Grifols' longstanding commitment to research. Francisco Mota (Senior Manager Medical Affairs - EU/ROW Intensive Care) briefly provided a description about the GATRA program.
Afterwards, Prof. Marcel Levi from Amsterdam, the Chair of the Jury of the GATRA Program, handed out the awards to the winners, who presented an overview of their research projects, meant to be developed in the upcoming twelve months. The researchers recognized at the ceremony were Dr. Dafna Groeneveld (co-investigator with Dr. Ton Lisman) from Groningen, Netherlands, for the project "Antithrombin: a new therapeutic strategy to reduce progression of liver disease?," and Dr. Javier Corral from Murcia, for the project "Identifying new patients with Antithrombin deficiency".
The application process for the second edition of the GATRA Program is open until April 15, 2016 for candidates from all over the world to submit their research proposals.
