PBO: Plasma Bag Opener
Grifols Engineering plasma bag opener (PBO) is designed to perform the following tasks:
- The frozen plasma inside the bag is skin-thawed to create a liquid film inside the bag
- The outer surface of the bag is then rinsed with fresh deionized (DI) water or water for injection (WFI), removing any particles adhered to it
- The outer surface of the bag is then dried to start the manufacturing process
- A robotic system cuts the plasma bag and the plasma is removed from the bag and transferred to the processing tank
ABO: Automatic Bottle Opener
The Automatic Bottle Opener (ABO) is a thawing tunnel and plasma bottle washing, cutting and handling line, designed by Grifols Engineering to perform the following tasks:
- The frozen plasma inside the bottle is skin-thawed to create a liquid film inside the bottle
- The outer surface of the plastic bottle is rinsed with fresh deionized (DI) water or water for injection (WFI), removing any particles adhered to it
- The outer surface is dried with air jets
- The bottle is automatically cut, the plasma is separated from the bottle, and the product is transferred to the processing tank
PBS: Plasma Bottle Sampling
Plasma Bottle and Bag Sampling (PBS) is a patented system, designed and manufactured by Grifols Engineering. It provides added accuracy and safety during manipulation of plasma samples.
PCM: Plasma Cutting Machine
The Plasma Cutting Machine (PCM) is a patented system, designed and manufactured by Grifols Engineering. It provides a high level of safety as the plasma is not handled by the operator while the bottles and bags are cut, minimizing possible external contamination, reducing costs and increasing yield.
